The ICC Process – Technologies
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The Innovation and Commercialization Center
(ICC) acts as a comprehensive business accelerator focused
on helping Kentucky entrepreneurs, scientists, and engineers
develop and mature their ideas and business concepts, perfect their
business strategies and build successful high-performance businesses. Part
of the process is matching technical resources with business
needs and providing access to qualified service providers and
capital as applicable.
Ideally, the ICC is looking for high growth potential technical
and business ideas flowing from our universities, research faculty,
students or individuals throughout our communities and assisting
in commercializing them to create jobs and improve the regional
economy.
Five identified primary focus areas of research and development
are:
•
Human Health and Development
• Biosciences
• Information Technology and Communications
• Environmental and Energy Technologies
• Materials Science and Advanced Manufacturing
The Life Sciences/Biosciences Consortium listed the following
further subsets as strategic areas of focus:
• Natural Products
• Medical Devices
• Health Technology Services
• Niche Pharmaceuticals and Niche Biotechnology
A specialized focus area is on Safety & Security business
enterprises through the EKU Business & Technology Incubator
for Safety & Security.
